Democratic Counsel Daniel Goldman’s Full Questioning Of George Kent And Bill Taylor
Democratic Counsel Daniel Goldman questioned George Kent, deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, and Bill Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, on Nov. 13-the first day of the first public hearing in the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.
The probe centers around a July phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. Both Kent and Taylor testified to lawmakers in October behind closed doors. Goldman asked Taylor about the conditions discussed between Trump and Ukraine’s leader during the July phone call.
Taylor explained that, “It’s one thing to try to leverage a meeting in the White House, it’s another thing, I thought, to leverage security assistance, security assistance to a country at war.”
